I purchased a DVD with 9 programs for WIN 7 and WIN 8 cheaply on ebay. Family Tree Heritage Premium 8 was one of these programs although I did not buy for this program. Interface is like the older versions of Family Tree Maker (2006 and earlier). Data accessed through 4 views : Pedigree, Family, Name List and individual. Initially it looks a bit light on features but they are all there and the more I use the program the more features and options I find. I particularly like handling of data sources and the fact that changes can be logged. Trees are produced via printing although you can preview the output before sending to paper. These are not interactive. so changes are awkward; i.e. cancel, make changes and print again. Saving to PDF is not available on 64 bit windows. The more I use the program the more I like it. I am considering using this as my primary program and using GED export to chart using other programs. So strong on data handling, weaker on charting.

Biggest Pro: Stable, easy to use. Good for recording sources. Can log changes to data.
Biggest Con: Trees are are not interactive. No option to prevent boxes spanning pages. Save to PDF not on 64 bit.

I started using FTH after I could not get FTM2009 to work on my Vista System. FTH feels very stable, and is intuitive to work with. Great program. I did not yet check out the output….

Biggest Pro: Stable, robust feel, intuitive userinterface

My program of choice. Similar to Family Tree Maker but easier to use and has more space for notes. Excellent reports. Allows pictures and printed data to be linked.

Biggest Pro: Ease of use
Biggest Con: Takes a short learning curve to navigate easily, but not a big drawback
