I use my Ancestry tree as my working document now, periodically exporting it as a GEDCOM. I find it very user-friendly. I have a World Deluxe subscription so the issue of paying is not a problem for me, everything is all-inclusive and I find Ancestry as a whole great value for money.

Biggest Pro: User-friendly
Biggest Con: Creates very large GEDCOMs

I was excited at first, but then it became very frustrating…. (for me) I get emails from them showing new contacts or content, most of which I added myself…I just upgraded my membership because I needed to search immigration records (big mistake!); seems as if everything you need to look for, there is another fee!! I can’t get good information on marriage records nor military records….

Biggest Pro: Easy to input information that you know
Biggest Con: It is too PRICEY…..(not sure I could recommend Ancestry.Com to friends)

This one loves to have you input all your hard-searched data, then charge you to access it ever after.
99% of the searches I have done on my family conenctions have returned hits - to my own input that I am being asked to pay to view.

Biggest Pro: Easy build
Biggest Con: pay, pay, pay

Pretty slow to updates and too many steps from subject to position in tree for analyzing.

Biggest Pro: Data entry and partial information free.
Biggest Con: Overpricing in every research feature.

I’ve used Ancestry Online Family Tree several times and find it hard to use, navigate, input data and slow.

Biggest Pro: improved search on Ancestry
Biggest Con: too slow, stuctured, inflexible - like the “ole days” of Family Tree Maker

I have other programs that I paid for, but this is the one I keep going back to. I no longer subscribe to ancestry.com, but continue to use this program. It gives access to the free areas of ancestry.com as well. It is very easy to add information and notes. There is no problem finding what I am looking for, either. The printed sheets (blanks available, also) are wonderful to work with and easy to change for the number of ancesters you want to print out.

Biggest Pro: Ease of use
Biggest Con: I can’t keep the information area open while I copy it to the program. This is more than likely a windows problem, or just my own inexperience.
